Here are links to other cool local sites:
Art Galleries and Guilds:
Artist's Collective in Elk: www.artists-collective.net/ I am a member of this gallery. It has a broad spectrum of high-quality art; usually about 30 artists, nearly all local from Gualala to Fort Bragg.
Northcoast Artists Gallery: www.northcoastartists.org/ I used to be a member of this gallery and was one of the 8 potters that started it. This is an excellent gallery with very high-quality work.
Three Rivers Studios: www.threeriversstudios.com/ Most of these artists are friends and neighbors. Mostly studios open by appointment.
Mendocino Ceramics: http://mendocinoceramics.com This is a newly formed website for Mendocino county potters and ceramic artists.
Potters:
Sonya Popow: http://www.sonyapopow.com. Sonya has long been one of my mentors; I admired her functional work before I became a potter myself. She is currently doing mostly sculpture, much of it burnished and pit-fired, some high-fired in wood or salt kilns.
Moss Rock: http://www.mossrock.org/Mossrock.org/Art_%26_Sculpture.html. Moss Rock does very interesting, earthy and whimsical hand-built ceramic forms and sculptures.
Artists of Other Arts:
Craig Hathaway: www.mendocinoredwoodburl.com/. Craig makes wild and fantastic rustic burl tables out of salvaged stumps and logs. He also makes countertops, headboards, mantlepieces, and occasionally mirrors. Commissions accepted.
Jim Vickery: http://jimvickery.com/. An excellent oil painter whose work varies between realism and surrealism, and a blend of both. Much of his work displays his very bizarre sense of humor.
General:
Mendocino Tea Company: http://mendocinotea.com. A small local tea company with excellent organic teas. Specializes in black tea blends, but also has some excellent herbal blends and some green and white teas, and some pu-ehrs. All organic. I happen to be the chief tea packer.
The Wild Mushroom Cookbook: www.wildmushroomcookbook.com A comprehensive cookbook for northern California wild mushrooms, written by myself and Merry Winslow.
The Mendocino Coast Mushroom Club (MCMC): mendocinocoastmushroomclub.weebly.com.
